British cultural manager. Media producer. Radio Host. Director of UNION: The Northern School for Creativity and Activism. Dialogos Fellow in the Cultural Hub.

After an early start in rugby and engineering, I trained in theatre and dance and performed throughout this country and in Europe. I was one of the founders of Heads Together Productions in 1986 and am now Co-Director of Chapel FM; the first-ever arts centre in East Leeds.

From theatre and dance to radio and film, I have worked as a community artist and activist across many disciplines, but my real creative work is in designing and developing programmes of work; focusing on using creativity in a range of situations—from work with socially excluded young people to working in partnership with senior public sector workers.

I led the two-phase development and design of Chapel FM Arts Centre completed in 2020, following a £1.6m refurbishment of the old Methodist Chapel in Seacroft, East Leeds.

Since then I have been developing a new strand of work for Heads Together: UNION—The Northern School for Creativity and Activism, using a coaching approach to providing professional development for participatory artists and creative activists across the orth of England. In the first five years, UNION has run extended programmes for 130 early- and mid-career professionals.
