Mieke Renders is the Managing Director of Trans Europe Halles (Sweden).
Mieke was born in 1975 in Bruges, Belgium. She is passionate about cultures and languages and has lived in several countries.

She is a strong believer in the independence of cultural actors and in their ability to organise themselves in networks to achieve greater impact.

Before moving to Sweden, she was the general manager of the Vlaams Cultuurhuis De Brakke Grond in Amsterdam and worked as a cultural attaché for Flanders House in New York.

Mieke studied cultural and physical anthropology and cultural management. This led her to start her career in the museum and heritage world, where she worked as a curator and project manager.

A few years later, her interest also shifted to the living and performing arts and she started to make connections between heritage, performing arts and visual arts.

Networking is a passion of hers, which she could now fully develop in Trans Europe Halles, a European network for independent cultural organisations in repurposed buildings. www.teh.net
