In Loving Memory of Vovka, a Person Full of Love
He sat behind me, at the fourth desk in the middle row, and teased me all the time.

For days, I did not hear anything about Zhenia, or Evgeny Sosnovsky. Back in Mariupol and later on, after I managed to escape the city, I checked his Facebook page over and over again, called him, texted him, and asked everyone I knew about him. Nothing.
It’s terrifying to write about it. Rhyming these words feels like walking, again and again, over the scorching hot embers.
This post is an appeal to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But it’s not mine — it is from the boy in this photo. I promised him to publish it.
No matter how hard the invaders try to conquer our lands, a sincere Ukrainian soul will remain free and invincible!
About love. What would we do without it?
I am looking at the family photo: ordinary people who dreamed of living long and happy lives. An ordinary couple, ordinary human desires, an ordinary photo. It’s only that it’s…the last one.
Beasts invaded our city, cruel and obstinate. They don’t spare people. None of them! I am a bit scared, as they want me to die, too. But I don’t understand what they get out of it.

The programmes of the Cultural Hub are being implemented thanks to the power and defense capacity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, through the will, professional and financial participation of our members, as well as institutional partners since 2022: European Cultural Foundation, MitOst e.V., BBK Landesverband Bayern e.V., and Kyiv Biennial.
We’re also deeply grateful to all those colleagues — cultural diplomats — who we don’t know personally so far, but we feel and appreciate the impact of your work.
